Alona Sosinsky, PhD, Scientific Director for Cancer, Genomics England, London. Dr Sosinsky has more than 20 years’ experience in developing and applying bioinformatics solutions to genomic data analysis, and she has significant experience of working in the cancer genomics environment with the emphasis on adoption of state-of-art precision medicine approaches into clinical practice.

Anna Martling

Anna Martling, MD, PhD, Professor of Surgery and senior physician, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Head of research group and responsible for the research field of colorectal surgery with special focus on clinical, translational and epidemiological studies on colorectal cancer. In particular, Martling's team has been interested in predictive and prognostic biomarkers, aspirin, radiotherapy, timing of surgery and development of new surgical techniques.

Christine Leopold

Christine Leopold, PhD, Ass. Professor of Drug Regulatory Science, Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation, Division of Pharmacoepidemiology & Clinical Pharmacology, Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Science / WHO Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation, Utrecht, The Netherlands. Her research focus is on evaluating pharmaceutical policies along the product life cycle to assess strategies to improve affordable access to medicines. She has a particular interest in understanding European regulatory, HTA and pricing/funding processes within cancer care as well as for patients with rare diseases.

David Thomson

David Thomson, Associate Director for the Commercial Liaison Team (CLT) of NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence), UK. David and his team bring together pharmaceutical companies, NHS England, and NICE to deliver commercial solutions that help ensure cost-effectiveness while still allowing NICE to deliver streamlined and timely evaluations in order to maximise patient access to life-changing treatments. He is a pharmacist by training, and in 2013 became the Lead Cancer Pharmacist at NHS England and in this role supported the work of nationally administered Cancer Drugs Fund and of the national Chemotherapy Clinical Reference Group. Thomson has developed a strong interest in pricing and reimbursement of medicines, which led him to complete an MSc in International Health Technology Appraisal, Pricing and Reimbursement from the School of Health and Related Research (SCHARR) at the University of Sheffield. He is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and of the British Oncology Pharmacy Association (BOPA) and is a past Chair of BOPA.

Diana Azzam

Diana Azzam, PhD, Scientific Director, Center for Advancing Personalized Cancer Treatments (CAPCT) and Ass. Professor, Dept. of Environmental Health Sciences, Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work, Florida International University, Miami, USA. Board member of the Society for Functional Precision Medicine. Diana Azzam’s research focus is functional precision medicine, cancer stem cells, therapy resistance and metastasis, and her lab focuses on implementing functional precision medicine (FPM) approaches in adult and pediatric cancer patients that have run out of treatment options.

Janne Lehtiö, Professor, PhD, Scientific Lead for Precision Medicine and DDLS Precision Medicine Area Lead, Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab), Karolinska Institutet and Platform Scientific Director, proteomics, SciLifeLab. Board of Directors, Karolinska Comprehensive Cancer Center, Sweden. His main research interests include development of mass spectrometry and bioinformatics methods for proteome and systems biology analysis to understand and improve cancer therapy.

Kimmo Porkka

Kimmo Porkka, MD, PhD, Professor of personalized cancer medicine and chief physician, Dept. of Oncology, University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Center, Finland. Kimmo Porkka’s research interests include molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapy of hematological malignancies. He has been principal investigator in >40 phase I-III clinical drug trials (academic and company-sponsored) on acute and chronic leukemias and has performed closely linked translational science projects focusing on predictive biomarker discovery.

Ruth Plummer

Ruth Plummer, MD, PhD, oncologist, Clinical Professor of Experimental Cancer Medicine, Translational and Clinical Research Institute, Newcastle University Centre for Cancer, Deputy Director of Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre, Newcastle, UK. Plummer’s clinical practice involves leading on the systemic therapies for skin cancer, with a portfolio of trials across all phases of drug development. In addition, she runs one of the most active phase I units in the UK. Her research interests are in the field of DNA repair and early phase clinical trials of novel agents.

Thorsten Zenz

Thorsten Zenz, Professor, MD, PhD, Senior physician at the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology, University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland and Vice Director of the Center for Hematological Neoplasms Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich. Thorsten Zenz heads a lymphoma research group focusing on understanding the governing principles underlying drug responses, using high‐throughput drug screening and omics‐profiling to leverage precision medicine in blood cancer with a strong focus on lymphoid malignancies.

The overarching theme of this two-day conference is precision cancer medicine. Internationally renowned speakers will give scientific updates as well as updates on collaborative initiatives and implementation of precision cancer medicine across the Nordics and other European countries. Furthermore, patient benefit and visions for the future, including standard health care, is on the agenda.
